How do spherical black holes grow monopole hair?

چکیده
Black holes in certain modified gravity theories that contain a scalar field coupled to curvature invariants are known possess (monopole) hair while non-black-hole spacetimes (like neutron stars) do not. Therefore, as star collapses black hole, must grow until it settles the stationary hole solution with hair. In this paper, we study process detail and show growth of is tied appearance event horizon (before an apparent forms), which forces modes would otherwise (in future) become divergent be radiated away. We prove result rigorously general first for large class theories, then exemplify results by studying temporal evolution Gauss-Bonnet two backgrounds: (i) collapsing Oppenheimer-Snyder background, (ii) background. case (i), find exact analytically, solve numerically, both cases supporting conclusion presented above. Our suggest emission burst radiation necessary condition formation gravity.

Rotating Black Holes with Monopole Hair
We study rotating black holes in Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs theory. These black holes emerge from static black holes with monopole hair when a finite horizon angular velocity is imposed. At critical values of the horizon angular velocity and the horizon radius, they bifurcate with embedded Kerr-Newman black holes. The non-Abelian black holes possess an electric dipole moment, but no electric cha...
متن کاملHow do quasicrystals grow?
Using molecular simulations, we show that the aperiodic growth of quasicrystals is controlled by the ability of the growing quasicrystal nucleus to incorporate kinetically trapped atoms into the solid phase with minimal rearrangement. In the system under investigation, which forms a dodecagonal quasicrystal, we show that this process occurs through the assimilation of stable icosahedral cluster...
متن کاملQuantum Hair on Black Holes
A black hole may carry quantum numbers that are not associated with massless gauge fields, contrary to the spirit of the “no-hair” theorems. We describe in detail two different types of black hole hair that decay exponentially at long range. The first type is associated with discrete gauge charge and the screening is due to the Higgs mechanism. The second type is associated with color magnetic ...
متن کاملStatistical Hair on Black Holes.
The Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for certain BPS-saturated black holes in string theory has recently been derived by counting internal black hole microstates at weak coupling. We argue that the black hole microstate can be measured by interference experiments even in the strong coupling region where there is clearly an event horizon. Extracting information which is naively behind the event horizo...
متن کاملSoft Hair on Black Holes.
It has recently been shown that Bondi-van der Burg-Metzner-Sachs supertranslation symmetries imply an infinite number of conservation laws for all gravitational theories in asymptotically Minkowskian spacetimes. These laws require black holes to carry a large amount of soft (i.e., zero-energy) supertranslation hair. The presence of a Maxwell field similarly implies soft electric hair. This Lett...
